About This Tool
What is iDevice Max Version?

This tool lets you instantly look up the maximum (and currently signed) iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, or audioOS firmware version supported by any Apple device from the original iPhone to the latest M-series Macs.

Data is pulled live from the ipsw.me API, which aggregates Apple's official software update catalogue. Firmware signing status reflects Apple's current signing window in real time useful for jailbreakers, developers, and anyone restoring a device.

Direct download links go straight to Apple's CDN, so you always get genuine, unmodified IPSW files. No mirrors, no re-uploads.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
What does "signed" mean?
Apple "signs" firmware versions to allow installation. When a version is signed, you can restore or update to it via iTunes/Finder. Apple typically stops signing older versions a few weeks after releasing a newer one. If a version is unsigned, you can no longer officially install it.
Why can't I update to the latest iOS?
Older devices have a hardware-defined maximum iOS version. For example, an iPhone 6 can only run up to iOS 12 regardless of what Apple releases. This tool shows that ceiling so you know exactly what your device supports.
How accurate is the signing status?
Signing status is fetched live from ipsw.me, which monitors Apple's TSS (Tatsu Signing Server) continuously. It is accurate to within a few minutes. Always double-check before performing a restore if the timing is critical.
Can I download older firmware here?
Yes all download links point directly to Apple's servers. You can download any listed IPSW file. However, restoring to an unsigned version requires a saved SHSH blob and a compatible tool such as futurerestore.
Does this work for Macs?
Yes. Apple Silicon Macs (M1 and later) use IPSW-based firmware just like iPhones and iPads. Select the Mac tab to find your model and see available macOS IPSW restore files, including signing status.
